Jess & Barney’s Chelsea Old Town Hall and L’Oscar Wedding
The little things that feel most like you
Every morning Jess and Barney start their day the same way.
They sit together and have a coffee before life gets in the way.
So obviously on the morning they got married we did exactly that ❤️
This was their legal ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall a few days before their big celebration at L’Oscar. We met first thing for coffee and croissants before walking over to get them married.
The funny thing is when we were planning everything I asked if they had any little rituals that felt particularly them.
They couldn’t think of anything.
I suggested getting coffee before the ceremony and they both immediately went:
“Oh my God… we have coffee together every single morning.”
😂
Of course you do.
I think we forget the things we do every day are often the things that say the most about us. They’re so normal that you wouldn’t think to mention them.
And I love that somewhere amongst their wedding photographs Jess and Barney now have this very ordinary part of their life together too.
Coffee, croissants and Chelsea Old Town Hall
There was something very lovely about starting the day so simply.
Coffee together. Croissants. Then walking over to Chelsea Old Town Hall for their legal ceremony.
Although this particular morning did involve slightly more crying than usual.
We filmed their ceremony on Barney’s phone and at one point he gets a tissue, wipes Jess’s tears, wipes his own and then looks over at me.
I’m also crying.
He says absolutely nothing and just reaches over and hands me the tissue 😂🥹
Honestly that probably tells you quite a lot about these two.
I’ve put the video at the end because it still gets me.
Day one of Jess & Barney ❤️
Jess & Barney round two
A few days later we did it all again.
This time it was black tie, L’Oscar and all of their favourite people in one room.
And everyone looked ridiculously hot.
We also got some of Jess’s Polish family traditions including being presented with two shots. One water. One vodka.
Whoever accidentally chooses the vodka is apparently destined to wear the trousers in the relationship.
Jess got the vodka.
Make of that what you will Barney 😂
The way they find each other
But the thing I kept noticing all day was how these two find each other.
There could be an entire room of people around them and somehow I’d look over and they’d be forehead to forehead again.
Or holding hands.
Or Barney would be looking at Jess when she wasn’t paying attention.
He is so gentle with her.
And she absolutely lights up around him.
It’s one of my favourite things about photographing weddings. After enough hours with two people you start learning their language.
Who reaches for who.
Who makes the other laugh.
How they stand when nobody is telling them where to stand.
The stuff I’m looking for isn’t something I need you to perform for me.
It’s already happening.
I just need to notice it.
And with these two there was rather a lot to notice. 🥹❤️
